The latest fire and security systems and integrated solutions are Honeywell's focus at the IFSEC 2001 show 

BIRMINGHAM, UK, 21 MAY 2001 – At IFSEC 2001 stand H80, Honeywell shows its latest fire and security systems, including the European launch of Honeywell Asset Locator and the first public demonstration of Honeywell's new EBI Temaline system for integrated access control, time and attendance recording. Subjects covered in a programme of detailed on-stand presentations include system integration for building efficiency, intelligent buildings, advanced security solutions and asset/personnel tracking. Honeywell is also providing the first UK demonstration of Avaya's new iPatch?monitoring system, an intelligent system that broadens cable network management monitoring capabilities.

The centrepiece of Honeywell's stand illustrates the integrated fire, security, access control and building management systems installed at Belfast's huge £91 million Odyssey centre, Northern Ireland's biggest-ever civil engineering project.

In Odyssey, the Honeywell systems are integrated with each other and also across three venue areas of the 23-acre site, using a vast structured cabling infrastructure and a Honeywell Enterprise Building Integrator (EBI) integration system.

Throughout the IFSEC show, Honeywell is delivering presentations on integrated building systems and advanced security solutions, emphasising their productivity and ease-of-use features. These include system integration, intelligent buildings and asset location.

The show is the European launch pad for Honeywell Asset Locator, a comprehensive new solution that tracks the location of tagged property and personnel within a building or campus (see separate press release). It is invaluable in theft prevention and also provides valuable knowledge to help users increase efficiency and profitability. Results are displayed on a PC workstation in a variety of configurations. When integrated into Honeywell EBI, users can access Honeywell Asset Locator from the same workstation they use to access other systems including HVAC (heating, ventilating and air conditioning), fire, security, CCTV and building management systems. Commands can be initiated automatically across applications.

For the first time at a public show in the UK, Honeywell is demonstrating its EBI Temaline products and architecture for integrated access control, time and attendance recording, and intruder detection (see separate release). EBI Temaline brings enhanced performance and reliability to security installations through peripheral controllers called TemaServers and a wide-range of field-mounted user devices, TemaKeys, which include a variety of card readers, pinpads, keyboards, digital I/O devices and user terminals. TemaServers and TemaKeys are an integral component of the Honeywell EBI environment, which provides seamless interoperability and "single window" operator access to a variety of Building Automation subsystems.

Honeywell is demonstrating a wireless LAN (local area network) that delivers all the power of EBI to a workstation via an Avaya Wireless Ethernet communications link. Honeywell is Avaya's only European Prestige VAR (value added reseller). Honeywell is also providing the first UK demonstration of Avaya's new iPatch?monitoring system, an intelligent system that broadens cable network management monitoring capabilities (see separate release).

The iPatch system gives real-time status of voice and data port connections, and speeds and improves accuracy of patch cord installations.
