Smart heating controls are popular with installers, house holders and local authorities, says Coventry - based heating installer P J Shankster.

BRACKNELL, UK, 7 JUNE  2002 Honeywell’s Smartfit low-voltage heating control system is popular with installers, householders and local authorities, says family-run heating system installer P J Shankster Ltd of Coventry.  “Smartfit is easy and quick to install, residents appreciate its excellent controllability for their comfort and economy, while councils and housing associations appreciate its ease and speed of maintenance,” reported Paul Shankster, who manages the business established in the 1960s by his father, Peter.

P J Shankster installs new heating systems and upgrades existing installations, for private customers, builders, councils and housing associations.  “The company has always prided itself on its reputation and commitment to old and new customers,” stated Paul Shankster.  “We want every customer to have a high quality, reliable heating system.  They trust us to provide the best products for their home comfort and peace of mind.  We favour Honeywell Smartfit.  Everyone for whom we’ve installed Smartfit has been very pleased with it.  Its programmer gives them many more options than other products.”

Smartfit’s plug-in wiring and snap-on actuators make it easy to replace components, should they fail.  “Its ease of long-term maintenance was the main Smartfit feature seized upon by a borough council, which had originally specified a standard Honeywell Y-plan system,” revealed Paul Shankster.  “We have now installed 90 Smartfit systems during boiler replacement projects for that council alone, as well as many more for other authorities and private customers.”

P J Shankster has installed many new and upgraded systems under government-funded Home Energy Efficiency Scheme (HEES) and the Warm Front Grant Scheme.  Both provide grants of up to £2,000 to vulnerable people – the elderly, those suffering a long-term illness and some families with young children – to make their homes warmer, more efficient and more secure.  Explained Paul Shankster, “With residents’ interests at heart we always fit high quality boilers, pumps and control components.  That means we use Honeywell control products.  We can’t install Smartfit in cases where the customer has specified a replacement combination boiler, but we always install Honeywell thermostatic radiator valves, thermostats and programmer.  The quality is good and they rarely ever go wrong.”
