HISTORY
Although Data Instruments was officially incorporated in 1977, we've been
designing machine safety controls since the early 1970s. Since then
we've built tens of thousands of safety light curtains for machine
guarding applications in industries noted for having some of the world's
toughest safety standards. As the leading supplier of safety light
curtains for metal stamping presses, we've become an industry standard.
Only recently, however, have we expanded their application outside the
metal stamping industry. Yet we've already established ourselves as a
major supplier of light curtains to the "big three" automakers
and other Fortune 500 companies.

RECOGNIZED AUTHORITIES ON MACHINE SAFETY
Because of our long experience, we've also played a prominent role in the
development of related industry standards. We've served as key
participants on standards committees for ANSI B11.1 Mechanical Power
Presses, ANSI B11.2 Hydraulic Power Presses, ANSI B11.16 Powder Metal
Compacting Presses, ANSI B11.19 Safeguarding. ANSI B11.20 Manufacturing
Systems/Cells, ANSI/RIA R15.06 Robot Systems and ANSI B11.TR1 Ergonomic
Guidelines for Machine Tools.
APPLICATIONS ASSISTANCE ON CALL
With such a wealth of hands-on experience, Honeywell's Data Instruments
division is a preeminent
source of applications engineering support, as well as practical guidance
in meeting regulatory requirements for machine safety. In the

CERTIFICATIONS
Honeywell's Data Instruments division was among the first US companies to earn
ISO9001
certification, the strictest of the ISO standards.
We were also one of the first to provide multiple independent laboratory
certifications that our light curtains meet or exceed established
standards for safety and control reliability (CSA 22.2-0.8
-014 and CE by TUV). Third-party verification includes
control reliability, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and
environmental stress testing.
