The Detector family includes both two-box (integral controls) and
slimline three-box (separate controller) systems for scanning
heights ranging from 6 to 72 inches.
Universal control box --
Universality has always been a standard feature in our Detector 3
control box. Its built-in capabilities provide flexibility,
allowing one control box to meet virtually all requirements. For
example, the same unit can control any-size optic heads without
adjustment. It can also control a second set of any size heads,
making it more economical to install additional light curtains.
Plus, our universal control box separates safety controls from
automation controls.
Safety confirmed by independent tests --
We were one of the first to provide multiple independent
laboratory certifications that our systems meet or exceed
established standards for safety and control reliability (CE by
TUV and CSA 22-014). Third-party verification includes control
reliability, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and
environmental stress testing. This testing includes vibration,
impact and exposure to temperature extremes, dust and humidity,
plus electrical aberrations and optics. Tests confirm that safety
is assured under all environmental conditions.
Control reliability is confirmed by testing every component for
all possible failure modes, including broken, open or shorted-
closed connections. Tests confirm that no single component
failure can ever jeopardize operator safety. Critical components
are duplicated and continually cross-checked during operation to
ensure that a single failure can't create an unsafe condition.
Rugged, dependable, built to last --
Detector light curtains are designed for uncompromising safety
and durability under the toughest conditions. The electronics are
compatible with all types of machine controls. Operation is not
affected by smoke, dirt, oil or ambient light, including weld
flash and strobe lights. Detectors are ruggedly constructed of
18-gauge welded steel (integral two-box) or heavy-gauge extruded
aluminum (slimline three-box) to withstand the toughest
treatment...even NEMA-4 hosedown of the optic heads.
Explosion-proof enclosures are optional with Detector 3.
Blanking, floating windows --
Blanking windows disable one or more light beams to allow fixed
objects such as conveyors or work tables to remain in the light
field. Detector's unique external blanking window indicates which beam is
blanked, reducing potentially dangerous
confusion. Detector 3 has a built-in single "floating
blanking window," allowing objects smaller than 1-3/4"
to pass through without interrupting operation. The Detector
two-box system can be ordered with the "floating
window" option.
