Gauge Pressure Transmitter Simplifies Measurement of High-Pressure Gases

The Honeywell ST 3000 Smart Gauge Pressure Transmitter (Model STG19L) is designed for measurement of high-pressure gases and liquids in industries such as oil and gas and petrochemicals. One such application is a hydrocarbon synthesis process. In this process, high-pressure hydrogen is dehydrated and delivered to a pressure vessel for a proprietary hydrogenation process. The application requires safe handling of the explosive gas at high pressures, in the range of 8,000-10,000 psig (552-690 bar). The STG19L helps ensure safety in the process by providing accurate pressure measurement over a broad pressure range.

With its 0 to 10,000 psig (0-690 bar) range and high accuracy (0.075% of calibrated span or upper range value), the STG19L is well suited for monitoring the hydrocarbon synthesis process. The instrument's 15,000 psig (1034 bar) maximum pressure condition offers an extra margin of protection that is vital to maintaining the high safety standards of the plant.

Honeywell has introduced upgrades to this product line in the form of the HercuLine 10260A with non-contact position sensing and the HercuLine 10260S with Smart Electronics.

In an effort to make it easy for users of L&N actuators to convert to state-of-the art Herculines new 10260A options are available that enable the 10260A model to replace 95% of the old L&N configurations. The 10260A additions incorporate a 1000 ohm film potentiometer into the HercuLine 10260A. These features enable the HercuLine 10260A to be a drop-in replacement for L&N slidewire models.
