Honeywell Acquires Lebow
Expands Honeywell's Sensing and Control
Honeywell has announced the acquisition of Lebow Corporation, a leading manufacturer of automotive and aerospace force and torque sensors, and load cells based in Troy, Mich. Lebow will become part of Honeywell's Sensing & Control business unit.
"The acquisition of Lebow expands our offering of
load-cell products, but even more exciting is it takes
us to an entirely new level in our offering of torque
sensors," said Ron Sansom, president of Honeywell's
Sensing and Control group. "Ultimately, this acquisition
significantly increases solutions we offer customers
in the test-and-measurement world."

The TMS 9000 is intended to measure torque in a rotating shaft by using a specially
designed digital wireless telemetry system, which
provides power to the rotating sensor as well
as providing two-way communications capability.
A multiplexing option can expand the wireless
telemetry capabilities to include other sensors
that may be present within the rotating system,
typically measuring forces, moments and temperatures,
as well as the shaft torque.
Application for the TMS 9000
Used for measuring torque (and other parameters) within rotating shafts, as typically found in dynamometers for engine and transmission testing. Also used for a wide variety of other applications such as turbine testing, pump testing, NVH testing of gear trains and power measurement within propulsion systems.
Based on the technology, how is this product unique?
The TMS 9000 is not a traditional stand alone sensor, but an torque measurement system; that includes multiple analog, frequency and digital outputs. The TMS 9000 is software driven using a custom designed 19-bit digital wireless telemetry system to maximizes resolution and frequency response while also being able to provide excitation power across the wireless gap. The telemetry system communicates both ways therefore the setup and operation of the rotating sensor can be controlled from the host and setups can be changed "on the fly" without interrupting testing. The high resolution allows a sensor to be used over a larger measurement range than traditional sensors, and the user can set the operating range in software without affecting the calibration. The TMS 9000 is designed to evolve with the markets needs, and can be expanded using standard PC104 cards.
How will it change the way people work?
The TMS 9000 is a digital system with no switches or potentiometers. Input scaling and output scaling is independent and is determined by the user and can be tailored to the test conditions required at the time. Therefore one capacity of sensor can be used where several different capacities may have been required previously. All setup and calibration information is stored in parameter files and can be recalled on demand, allowing the user to repeat a test using the same test conditions that applied originally.

Custom-Express Delivery System provides 2-week delivery, easy-click configuration of high output load cells.
Honeywell Sensotec product line is introducing a new
Custom-Express Model 41 Delivery System. This new delivery
system uses a product configurator and a kan-ban inventory
system of pre-engineered interchangeable subassemblies
to ensure quick delivery of these highly versatile and
configurable load cells. The Custom-Express Model 41
Delivery System provides shorter lead times on what
would normally be considered special units. These normally
conflicting issues- short lead times and special requirements
- are not a problem any more. The Custom-Express Model
41 Delivery System allows the customer to specify load
cells with mV/V and high level outputs with internal
signal conditioning and be assured of delivery in two
weeks or less.
Building on the proven success of the FP2000 delivery system for pressure transducers, the Custom-Express Model 41 Delivery System incorporates a unique flexible assembly technique that lets the customer select the critical parameters and order a product according to the special needs of each application. Our on-line configurator lets you click your way through the basic building blocks of the Custom-Express Model 41 Delivery System to create hundreds of load cell combinations. These building blocks include nine load ranges (50 lb up to 50,000 lb), 4 electrical outputs, 4 electrical connections and 4 calibration options.
The flexibility of this system enables Honeywell to meet customer-specific requirements quickly. And with replacements only 2 weeks away, the customer can reduce dependency on spare parts inventory.

Honeywell Sensotec has launched an accelerometer series that has built in signal conditioning. As a result the 4-20MA output is a DC signal proportional to the vibration. Three accelerometers are in the series: The MA15 has a 4-20mA proportional to g, the MA321 has a 4-20mA proportional to g but with a frequency response down to 0 Hz and the MAV52 has a built in integration circuit such that the 4-20mA output proportional to velocity (ins/sec or mm/sec). Each one of these units can be hooked up to a two wire 4-20mA signal conditioning unit such as the Sensotec SC500 single channel unit or SC2000 1-4 channel unit, to provide display.

What's New
|
|
We have now added 6 new pressure ports to the FP 2000 product line: The FP2000 is the industries standard for custom configured, fast delivery pressure sensors. You can configure have pressure sensors built your way and have them fast, too. FP2000 Series Pressure Sensors are assembled from building blocks of pre-engineered and pre-tested components to create a selection of more 25,000 combinations. After you choose your desired parameters, your order is transmitted directly to the FP2000 Assembly Area for immediate action. The FP2000 pressure sensors are completely assembled, final calibrated, then expedited to shipping. You get the exact sensor your application needs, in two weeks or less!
