British Gas’s “Aspect” magazine praises Honeywell Smartfit as “a new de facto standard for the future of central heating controls”

BRACKNELL, UK, 12 DECEMBER 2000 – Honeywell’s Smartfit central heating control system has been praised as “a new de facto standard for the future of central heating controls” in British Gas’s “Aspect” magazine, published for British Gas engineers.

“It is flattering that British Gas decided to commission a five page editorial dedicated to this revolutionary control system for heating and hot water control,” commented Mike Ward, Honeywell Home and Building Control Products Vice President.

“Aspect” magazine describes Smartfit as revolutionary because it “not only completely eliminates the need for traditional complex wiring but also provides a built-in diagnostic program that automatically indicates a system fault and highlights where the fault lies.”

The British Gas article places special emphasis on both the ease of installation and the innovations made for servicing. It explains that all the Smartfit control system’s components are connected using simple plug-in or two-wire connections, whilst a commissioning check built into the Smartfit’s intelligence ensures the system it is working correctly. “Should a system failure occur, either during commissioning or normal operation, an ‘F’ fault code (ranging from F1 to F15) will be displayed on the room unit’s LCD window,” the report says.

Said Mike Ward, “This article is an unmistakable acknowledgement of Honeywell’s innovation and recognition of Honeywell’s pledge to create products that respond to the requirements of ever more demanding customers.”
