Honeywell Provides Comprehensive Collaborative
Manufacturing Strategy for the Chemical and Petrochemical
Industries
EBusiness.FLEX Value Chain Management Solution
Bridges the Gap between Supply Chain Planning and Execution.
April 8
2002 - Honeywell
[NYSE:HON] Industry Solutions and WAM Systems, Inc. today
announced a multi-level strategic agreement to deliver a unique
and comprehensive enterprise solution for the chemical and
petrochemical industries.
The
solution, called Business.FLEX® Value Chain
Management, seamlessly integrates production-centric manufacturing
solutions from Honeywell with advanced supply chain planning
solutions from WAM Systems. By embedding the WAM Systems solutions
into its Business.FLEX solutions, Honeywell drives optimized
execution and planning of procurement, production, transportation,
and distribution for chemical and petrochemical manufacturers. The
Business.FLEX Value Chain Management solution enables development
and execution of effective, efficient business decisions that
result in increased profitability.
Steve
Banker, Director of Supply Chain for the ARC Advisory Group, said,
“Prior to the Honeywell/WAM alliance, process companies have had
far fewer supplier choices in Supply Chain Management (SCM) than
their colleagues in the discrete industries.”
“Honeywell's
Business.FLEX Value Chain Management solution delivers a new
solution that bridges the gap between supply chain planning (SCP),
supply chain execution (SCE), and process automation,” Banker
said.
The
strategic agreement between Honeywell and WAM leverages
Honeywell’s expertise in providing innovative automation and
business solutions and WAM’s unsurpassed supply chain planning
expertise within the chemical industry. The combination increases
solution depth and breadth, creating a truly collaborative,
comprehensive solution for the chemical and petrochemical
industries.
Business.FLEX
Value Chain Management, marketed and supported by Honeywell, fully
embeds WAM’s Advanced Supply Chain Planning solution within
Honeywell’s Collaborative Manufacturing software suite and
platform for the chemical and petrochemical industries.
Honeywell’s investment in this agreement with WAM encompasses
expanded product development, sales and marketing support, and
complete integration of WAM’s software suite into Honeywell’s
Collaborative Manufacturing Strategy.
Virginia
Burnell, Vice President and General Manager of Honeywell Industry
Solutions’ Energy Business, said, “We are very pleased to
announce our strategic agreement with WAM Systems. WAM’s proven
supply chain planning solutions, specifically designed to meet the
demands of multi-plant and complex chemical and petrochemical
supply chains, are perfectly targeted to address the complex
decision-support needs of our customers.”
“For
the first time, chemical and petrochemical manufacturers will have
a comprehensive business solution that is linked to real-time,
plant-level execution systems and that offers visibility to
internal operations and suppliers, trading partners, and
customers,” Burnell said. “The Business.FLEX Value Chain
Management solution is a catalyst to enhance our customers’
profitability and their customer relationships. It brings key
planning and execution data to all decision-makers within a
chemical or petrochemical operation. In the face of difficult and
challenging market conditions, the solution and our overall
Collaborative Manufacturing Strategy will make it possible for
chemical and petrochemical manufacturers to improve performance,
remain competitive, and increase profitability.”
Jack
Weiss, CEO of WAM Systems, said, “We’ve combined WAM’s deep
understanding of the chemical industry and supply chain planning
domain expertise with Honeywell’s solid history of delivering
global business automation solutions. Honeywell’s strong process
expertise and their Collaborative Manufacturing framework, coupled
with our proven supply chain package, result in a unique,
comprehensive solution that captures value for companies in the
worldwide chemical and petrochemical industries. It provides these
companies with the capability to significantly increase
productivity through internal and external collaboration.”
