"Smartfit home heating control system provides easier and faster installation, and better heating control," says Aragon Housing Association

Smartfit's ease and speed of maintenance is another important benefit

BRACKNELL, UK, 26 MARCH 2001 - After replacing the heating control systems in its housing stock, the Aragon Housing Association reported easier and faster installation, and better heating control - all due to changing from standalone components to Honeywell's plug-in Smartfit system. "The Smartfit components have low voltage, plug-in connections - the only mains is the supply to the base unit, so it almost means you don't need an electrician," observed Barry Gissing, Project Officer with the Bedfordshire-based Association. "There's also the convenience of being able to use low voltage cable, which is easier to thread and conceal during installation."
Smartfit's ease and speed of maintenance is another important benefit to the Association. "If there's a problem, we can ask the tenant for the fault code in the Smartfit controller display. This tells us what needs replacing, so we can take the correct parts to fix the problem in one visit. Replacement is easy too, due to the plug-in wiring. Even in the case of a motorised valve failure, you just lever off the actuator head and plug in a new one - a 30 second job, at most."
The Association has installed Smartfit in homes occupied by a wide variety of tenants, from young couples to the elderly. "They find it easy to use. One or two people have had to ask us how to use the heating system, so we've spent 15 minutes showing them, but they have never come back to us later to say 'I still can't use it'.

"The Smartfit programmer/roomstat is a clever unit. I like its sophistication, its three on and off times, and that it enables you to control your heating temperature and hot water cylinder temperature on one unit. Heating and hot water can run together during winter months, or the hot water can run alone during the summer. It's easy to use and understand - it even has little tap and radiator symbols that show when your hot water and central heating are running."
