Smartfit
eliminates call - backs due to faulty wiring of heating controls,
says Llewellyn Heating Ltd of Hereford.
BRACKNELL,
UK, 3 SEPTEMBER 2002 -
Llewellyn Heating Ltd
of Hereford has been loyal to Honeywell controls throughout its 35
years trading and now uses Honeywell Smartfit control packs
wherever possible as these eliminate call-backs due to faulty
wiring.
“Our
working area extends across a 60 mile radius of Hereford, taking
in Worcester, Gloucester and South Wales as far as Bridgend,”
said Managing Director Dave Llewellyn, who started the business in
1967. “ Smartfit is
pre-wired for simplicity and we avoid call outs just to correct
faulty wiring, so preventing round trips of up to 100 miles.
It not only simplifies work on site but is also economical
too as everything is in the pack. We’re very pleased with it.”
Llewellyn
Heating’s main business is installing heating systems in new
homes and it works for most major house builders.
The installer has also provided many system upgrades for
Herefordshire County Council’s housing stock.
“The
wiring may be fitted by the contractor on site, by our electrical
subcontractor or sometimes by our own people,” explained Dave
Llewellyn. Unfortunately
for the heating installer, all problems tend to be referred to
them for resolving, even though wiring errors were not of their
own making. “We’ve
not heard of problems caused by incorrect wiring in any of our
Smartfit installations. So,
if a heating system with Smartfit is reported to be
malfunctioning, we can eliminate wiring error as the cause.”
Dave
Llewellyn revealed that, by contrast, another installer has
continued a preference to purchase and install conventional Y Plan
components but has numerous call-backs due to wiring faults.
“In our case, by using Smartfit Y Plan packs, there’s
no doubt that any problems are the plumber’s responsibility to
fix and not the electrician’s.”
Llewellyn
Heating is a major player in the region with 26 installers, while
its sister company Herefordshire Boiler Services has a further
six. Dave Llewellyn
therefore has an unrivalled view of the market in his 60 mile
operating radius and has noticed a trend among some home builders
towards pressurised systems having bundled controls.
“In those cases we need to supply only motorised valves
and pumps, but we continue to install Smartfit where possible with
conventional heating systems.”
Honeywell
Smartfit has revolutionised the heating control industry through
its low voltage wiring and plug-in control connections that
minimise the chance of errors and make wiring quicker and simpler.
Diagnostic
codes simplify fault-finding; in the event of failure, the
householder sees a code in the controller display which tells
technicians what is wrong so they know what to take to site.
All
these features, coupled with the established Honeywell renown for
quality and reliability, add up to happy customers, profitable
installation and enhanced reputation.
Smartfit
systems are supplied in Y-Plan and S-Plan options, while the
stylish Smartfit controller is available in 24-hour and 7-day
versions.
